“As soon as I walked through the threshold of Baelyn’s home, I was ushered into a timeless portal that allowed me to retune to the rhythms of nature- both inner and outer. I was there to deepen my understanding and practice of Chadao. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, the food was nourishing, and the house was spacious. It is very clear- you have arrived at a temple space.
Each morning we did silent meditation and qi gong. Then we sat for tea with Baelyn in silence; afterward, we asked questions, and she provided additional context for the experience we had together - both historical and practical. The afternoons were set aside for more tea and practice serving, followed by feedback from Baelyn and the other students.
Day by day, my internal pace slowed, and I became more present to my relationship with the elements and tea. We experimented with brewing styles: gongfu, leaves in a bowl, and bowl tea, and how to heat water with a charcoal brazier. We were also introduced to many types of tea, with information about the regions where they were grown, processing methods, and suggestions of when to serve them. Our time together was rich and impactful. I have many pages of notes that I refer to often. It’s been several months since that weekend together, and I continue to draw on the embodied wisdom I gained. I highly recommend the Way of Tea Weekend for anyone who desires to immerse themselves in an environment where tea and deep presence are held in the highest regard.”

“There are many ways to study tea: online courses, books, YouTube videos, teachers, immersive weekends abroad. The Way of Tea Weekend with Baelyn offers something else entirely. It isn't study so much as practice, held at a depth that gently invites you to be fully present in each moment. Technique, philosophy, and virtue stop being concepts and become lived experience.
Sharing time, space, and of course bowls of tea with Baelyn leaves an imprint, one you carry into your home practice and remember for years. She teaches by example and through eloquent lectures, while also making room for serious inquiry, questions, and unhurried conversation.
Her home is its own wonderland, a place you never quite want to leave. The property invites imaginative thinking, and the weekend itself will nourish you for months.
If you feel called to experience tea in a way that will forever inform your practice, as a meditator, a student, and a lover of tea, go spend a Way of Tea Weekend with Baelyn in Taos.”
